a little bit about BV

Billy Vera is perhaps best known as the "Leader Beater" of his band Billy Vera & the Beaters, originally founded in 1979 and still performing today. Billy's talent doesn't stop with being an exceptional musician and singer however. He's also a well-respected music producer, songwriter, music historian, voice-over talent, and actor. Here's a few things you might not know:

  • Billy played Pinky Caruthers in the cult classic "Buckaroo Banzai" starring Peter Weller.
  • He received a Hollywood Star. It's located near the front of the Capitol Records building on Vine if you care to visit.
  • BV currently voices intros on the George Lopez TNT show, "Lopez Tonight."
  • Billy can be found often at the original Farmer's Market on Fairfax chowing down on a tuna fish sandwich on white toast.
  • He owns a huge - and fabulous - collection of 45's including The Flamingos on the Chance label, red plastic.
